How to connect
Hi! Today I'm going to talk about praying and offerings. Enjoy!
A deity
will never come if we don't call them. We have to pray and make offerings for
this to happen.
In this
case, for starting, we need to let Hestia know we want her in our home.
This
religion is very private. The deities like you to be creative, but you can
start with things other people made before. I'm talking about the Orphic Hymns:
some deities don't like them, they prefer you to write an hymn for them.
But, as I
said, if you're not into writing, it's okay. Use the Orphic ones, I can
translate mines too if the deity you're talking to hates the Orphics.
You don't
have to recite any hymn, it's not necessary but deities like it.
We need
Hestia to come first. How do we do that?
Clean your
house, especially the room where the altar is or where you are lighting her
candles. You have to be clean too, so take a shower if you need it.
She likes
green candles but she is okay with the one of your choice.
Whisper
something to her like "I light this candle as an offering to Hestia,
goddess of fire, protector of the home".
Important!
Use matches, not lighters.
If the
matches lights at the first attempt and the flame is strong and high, she's at
home. Don't blow on the fire, put it out with your fingers, a spoon or
something you can use. Her power is in the fire, so don't mess with it and be
gentle.
Don't worry
if it doesn't work at first, if she doesn't come in weeks. Keep trying because
she will answer.
It took me
months to contact her and I realize now that I wasn't actually making it right:
you need to do this with intention, concentrate on what you're doing and
believe in her coming.
Let her
stay in your home for a few days. She needs her space at first to know if it's
a good place to be and bring her family.
Remember
that Hestia is the protector of the home, so she isn't calling her family
unless your house is cool for them.
I guess
your house is cool, so don't worry!
You might
feel different when she's near you. More calmly, in peace.
Please, remember that the deities around you will affect in your life. Your mood, your feelings and emotions might change when they are around. So be careful with the ones that come!
In case you want to join hellenism but you don't want to mix it with witchcraft...
Add to the
altar amulets and things that represents the deity you want to worship. For
example, Apollo likes images of the sun and laurel leaves. Light candles and
incense for that deities. You might feel their presence!
Now, if you want to mix hellenism and witchcraft...
I'm sorry, but this is the funny way.
We don't
choose the deities, they choose us.
I mean, if
you pray to Hera a lot, Hera will choose you. But if you pray in general to all
the gods and you invite all of them to your house, they choose you.
I told
Hestia that she could bring whatever deity that wanted to come and they choose
me. I guess it's based on the person, because I'm a bit... dark? I don't know
how to explain but I love going to cemeteries, I'm attracted by the death, my dream job is thanatoesthetics related... so Hades and
Persephone choose me. I didn't call, they came.
So if
you're determinated to reach a deity, pray a lot, offer them as much as you
can. That's the fastest way to get in touch.
That
doesn't mean that only a few can connect with you, in fact, if you're doing
well they might go visit.
Now, how to talk to them using witchcraft?
I use a
pendulum.
A pendulum
is a strong tool to connect with the non terrenal world. It's like a ouija but
smaller. It only answers to yes or no questions (later I'll explain how I have
full conversations with them).
It's easy
to use but it's a bit dangerous if you don't use it right.
You raise
the pendulum and anyone can answer: deities, demons, spirits, angels... all the
non terrenal world can go to the pendulum to say hi.
Don't freak
out, but we are surrounded by spirits all the time. They come, stay a bit and
go without noticing. Every day there's a new ghost in your room, but don't
worry, they won't hurt you.
That
doesn't mean that every spirit is nice. They can't hurt you but they can scare
you. I had poltergeists and some weird stuff, but I wasn't protected.
Since I had
protection, nothing like that has happened to me. So don't worry!
By the way,
never go to hospitals or cemeteries with a pendulum because you can arrive home
with a surprise.
We can
protect ourselves using incense, having our amulet near us, wearing red (or a
red bracelet on the left wrist), with crystals, water moon... I think the best
way to be protected is your amulet.
An amulet can be anything: a necklace, a stone, a pen, a bracelet, a ring... whatever.
I recommend
that must be something that you can wear or have near every time. For example,
my amulet is a necklace of Hermes' caduceus. It doesn't have to be related to a
deity.
The amulet
has our personal energy, it helps us to deal with emotions and no one except
you can touch it. If someone touches your amulet, it will take their energy. So
it's better if you step back when someone approaches their hand.
Raise the
pendulum and say "show me yes" and it'll move. Then "show me
no" and it'll move different.
The
pendulum can move in circles or side by side.
You need to ask "are you going to lie to me?" and if the pendulum says yes, you say "thank you" and take it with your hand. Don't talk with whoever is going to lie to you. (In case you're wondering, no, Hermes doesn't say he's going to lie.)
If the pendulum says no, then you start asking questions to make sure it's not lying: "today is may 6th?", "is my name...?". When you're sure it won't lie, ask "are you a deity/demon/spirit/etc?". If a deity is talking to you, you need to ask for the religion like "are you a greek/egyptian/christian/nordic/muslim/etc deity?"
Whoever answers, you should talk a bit with them even though you're not interested. Ask if they are male or female, if they belong to a specific kingdom... ask them until they reveal who they are.
When you're done talking, you say "thank you" to the pendulum and the deity (or whoever) before taking it with your hand. It's a safe way to close the connection between you and the non terrenal world.
If you talk
with the deity you wanted to the first time, congratulations!!
If you
don't, don't be upset, they will come with time.
What do I talk about with them?
At first, I was terrified about what to say. I couldn't stop thinking "they are going to be mad at me", "I'm going to screw up", "what if they hate me"... Turns out, for my experience, everyone is nice.
Start asking about the offerings they want. I searched on google while talking with them what kind of offerings they usually like. Some of them are cool with simple things, but sometimes they want you to be creative.
I'm going to tell two experiences with the offerings:
One day,
Aphrodite came. When I asked what she wanted, reading the things people wrote
on the internet, there were nothing she accepted. So I started to ask based on
modern things that could be related to her.
Aphrodite
wanted a lipstick. I let her one cute red lipstick on the altar and now I can't
use it because it's hers.
Dionysus
came to me. I did the same as I've done with the other ones and search for
offerings. He wanted a pinecone, so I had to go to the only park with pines on
my city and search for one while I was talking to him with the pendulum. Now he
has a cute little pinecone.
How do I have full conversations with them?
This works most of the time. I wrote an alphabet and they can write through the pendulum. I go letter by letter and when they found the one they want, the pendulum moves.
Sometimes,
it doesn't make sense. They say things like "akdjfkh" or single words
without context. But most of the time they make sentenses with a little help.
Maybe they don't spell right (for example, prefrect instead of perfect). We can
have full conversations, that's the important part.
